Record values for the Greens, dramatic situation for the CDU: After the announcement by Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann to want to start again in the state election in 2021, the values for his party in Baden-Württemberg have shot up to 38 percent.
On the other hand, the CDU with runner-up Susanne Eisenmann is second with 26 percent. This is the result of a survey by Infratest dimap for the Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and the "Stuttgarter Zeitung". Around one and a half years before the election, the CDU is far from its goal of even appointing the head of government.
Kretschmann governs since 2011, first with a green-red coalition and since 2016 with a green-black coalition. He had declared on September 12 that he would like to run for a third term.
In the 2016 state election, the Greens had come to 30.3 percent and become the strongest force in a state election ever. The 38 percent is the highest value that Infratest dimap has ever measured nationwide for the Greens.
The SPD comes in the new survey to 8 percent - this is for them an all-time low in Baden-Württemberg. The AfD, currently the largest opposition faction, is 12 percent and the FDP 8 percent. The Left would still be represented at 3 percent in the state parliament.
