From very early in the morning, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, raised the flag at half-mast to remember the victims who died in the earthquakes of 1985 and 2017. In different parts of Mexico City, relatives of the victims of the earthquakes and rescuers made offerings of flowers, and raised their fists as a sign of remembrance and respect at different points where the buildings fell. In the morning a massive drill paralyzed the streets of the city and caused thousands to leave the buildings at a time that recalled the importance of prevention.
