A Bundeswehr tornado has lost two fuel tanks during a training flight over Schleswig-Holstein. Since the machine had already been on the way back, the two tanks were de facto empty, said a spokesman for the Air Force on Thursday evening. One of the tanks was found on a harvested field near Pansdorf.
According to information from the NDR field fighters of the Bundeswehr locked the area from a large area. The search for the second tank was discontinued late in the evening. It should be continued on Friday.
According to the information, two tornadoes were on a training flight in the afternoon. From initially unexplained cause, the two outer tanks dissolved on one of the machines on the way back. The tornadoes flew about six kilometers at that moment. The aircraft belong to the Luftwaffe squadron Jagel, an investigation has been initiated.
