Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov expressed Moscow's hope to continue cooperation with Beijing on resolving the crisis in Syria.
"We are seeking to cooperate with China on a wide scale to solve the current issues in Syria and promote the return of normal life to the Syrian people as soon as possible," Morgulov said in an article in the International Journal of the US. Significantly, this means that China, along with Russia and other countries, can participate in the post-crisis recovery in Syria.
Morgulov noted Russian-Chinese cooperation to counter Western attempts to accuse Syria of chemical attacks and the imposition of abnormal functions in this context of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
Russia and China yesterday vetoed a German-Belgian-Kuwaiti Security Council resolution aimed at protecting terrorists in Idlib under the pretext of cessation of hostilities.
Referring to Russian-Chinese international cooperation, Morgulov pointed to the similar approach of the two countries to the situation in Venezuela, pointing out that the only acceptable way to resolve the crisis is to launch a dialogue between the Venezuelans in order to reach a political and legal solution to the crisis.
"As far as the international community is concerned, we believe that Beijing should assist in this process rather than interfering in the internal affairs of a sovereign state," he said.
He stressed that Moscow and Beijing do not agree with the "colored revolutions" regardless of the "attractive slogans used", noting that all attempts to carry out an illegal coup in Venezuela with external support cause a very negative reaction.
For months, Venezuela has been subjected to blatant US interference in its internal affairs and destabilization by tightening economic and financial sanctions and supporting right-wing forces in a desperate attempt by Washington to revive its plans to dominate the country, which possesses huge oil wealth and coup against the legitimate president using all means, including violence and chaos.
