Protesters of the "Yellow Jackets" movement organized new demonstrations today as part of their protest against French President Emmanuel Macron's social and economic policies as French police confronted them with tear gas and the arrest of dozens.

According to media reports, French police arrested 30 protesters and fired tear gas during the suppression of the protests of the movement of "yellow jackets."

The French authorities have deployed 7,500 police on the streets of Paris with cars equipped with water cannons and armored vehicles to counter the protesters' protests that coincide with a march demanding action for climate in the French capital and celebrations of the European National Heritage Day.

"Many people will come to Paris" to take part in the demonstrations, said Jerome Rodriguez, a leading figure in the Yellow Jackets movement. French authorities have banned demonstrations on the Champs Elysees and elsewhere in the heart of the French capital.

The unprecedented protest movement against Macron's failed economic policies, which led to a dramatic rise in the cost of living and increased unemployment among the French, has taken hundreds of thousands of French onto the street since mid-November 2018.
