The day after the global climate protests, Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has encouraged young people to fight the climate crisis. She gave a short speech at the United Nations Youth Summit.

"Yesterday millions of people marched around the globe demanding real climate action, especially young people," the 16-year-old said in her brief address in New York. "We have shown that we are united and that no one can stop us young people."

According to official figures, around 700 participants were expected at the meeting, which will take place before the climate summit with Heads of State and Government on Monday. Nevertheless, Guterres also made a speech: "This is one of the problems of global leaders: that they talk too much and do not listen enough," he said. Only a few years ago he felt discouraged by the advancing climate change and the lack of action by politicians. "And suddenly I felt that there was a new impulse that increased, and that came to a great extent from the youth movement," Guterres said.
