The Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, welcomed the peace initiative

The United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, has welcomed the peace initiative launched by the Yemeni Ansar Allah Movement.

The mission said in a statement issued today that "Griffith welcomes the initiative and welcomes the expression of more openness towards the implementation of the exchange of prisoners and detainees and the desire for a political solution to end the conflict."

Griffiths stressed the importance of taking advantage of this opportunity and making progress in steps to curb violence, military escalation and unhelpful rhetoric.

Griffith reiterated his call for all parties to respect international humanitarian law and restraint and to avoid Yemen being drawn into regional tensions for the benefit of the Yemeni people.

The head of the Supreme Political Council, Saleh Al-Sammad, announced yesterday a peace initiative in which he called on the Saudi aggression coalition to stop its aggression and siege of Yemen until the Yemeni army and the popular committees stop the strikes they are directing to the Saudi depth.

The leader of the Yemeni Ansar Allah Movement, Abdul Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, called on the Saudi aggression alliance to stop its aggression and to take into consideration its failure. Yemen with more painful, deadlier and more impactful strikes.
