The chairman of the Committee on International Relations of the Council of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachov said that the strengthening of the US military presence in the region is a factor of growing tension and increase the risk of escalation of conflicts and sudden scenarios.
Reports of US plans to move additional troops to the Middle East under the pretext of attacks on Saudi Aramco's oil facilities reveal the real goals of US President Donald Trump, Kosachov said in a statement quoted by Sputnik.
Kosachov said regional actors in the region, including the Saudi regime, should think carefully about these US plans, while ruling out signs of a military operation against Iran as part of Washington's drive to bolster its forces in the Middle East.
According to press reports, Trump did not miss the opportunity to exploit the attacks on Saudi Aramco oil facilities belonging to the Saudi regime and hastened to extort money by suggesting that he was unable to provide protection for his facilities without US support.
