The veterinary medicines factories in Hama and Homs governorates have not stopped working and producing during the past years and played an active role in providing veterinary medicine for different kinds of livestock, which contributed to reduce the cost for breeders as a result of dispensing with imports and contributed to supporting the national economy.

The vice president of the Syndicate of Veterinarians in Syria, Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Amouri told SANA correspondent that there are 60 laboratories for veterinary medicines working at maximum capacity to supply the local market with veterinary medicines, noting that the union in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture supervises the production of laboratories through chemical structures and the process of pharmaceutical quality and material pricing and marketing To agricultural pharmacies and veterinary clinics.

Al-Ammouri pointed out that the veterinary medicine factories were affected by the crisis, but withstood and continued in the production cycle and work did not stop the veterinary medicine during the crisis and there are some laboratories out of service, but most of them returned to work after the restoration of security and stability to their areas, indicating that the provision of high quality national veterinary medicine Foreigner and dispensing with the importer.

The deputy director of Hama Agriculture for Livestock Affairs, Dr. Sami Abu Dan, pointed to the presence of large numbers of cattle, sheep, goats, poultry and buffaloes in the governorate, which is in constant need of medicines and vaccines, which is provided by national production companies.

He pointed out that the Directorate of Agriculture in cooperation with a number of government agencies are conducting rounds on veterinary medicines laboratories and take samples of the produced materials and send them to the quality laboratory in the Ministry of Agriculture for analysis and to ensure compliance with the required specifications, noting that periodic visits are also conducted to see the quantity and quality of production and the extent of adherence to the subject On the packaging and safe storage of the medicine to ensure the safety of the medicine produced.

Dr. Emad Uday, Director of the Development Company for Veterinary Drugs in Hama, pointed out that the company produces 40 pharmaceutical classes, most of which are focused on the poultry sector.There are other varieties specialized in ruminants and produce vitamins, antibiotics and antifungals.He pointed out that most of the raw materials involved in the manufacture of veterinary medicines are available in the local market.

Mohammed Rashad Qandakji, owner of Noor Veterinary Drugs Company, said that the company produces pharmaceutical varieties of liquids, emulsifiers, powder, bolts and premixes, which cover all regions of Syria and are present in the foreign market in Arab and foreign countries.

In Homs, Dr. Ahmed Chahoud, head of the Animal Health Department at the Directorate of Agriculture, pointed out that there are 5 laboratories for veterinary medicines in Homs, including two that have been suspended since the beginning of the crisis, 37 offices to provide veterinary services and 17 warehouses.

He pointed out that most of the veterinary medicines factories are ISO certified and specialized committees conduct control rounds with the withdrawal of control samples on a regular basis and send them to the quality laboratory for analysis and to ensure the correct production of the active substance and licensing of the preparation.

Dr. Ihsan Bakhs, director of Delta Veterinary Lab, pointed out that despite the difficulties they faced, they did not close the doors of the lab during the crisis, stressing that the raw materials are safe and good and do not compare with the smuggled materials as the raw materials are controlled by the Ministry of Agriculture.
