Iran has announced that the British tanker Stena Impero, which is being held at the port of Bandar Abbas, will be released soon.
"Although the legal and legal stages of Stina Impero's exit from Iranian waters are under way, the judicial file on the violations of the tanker is still open," Fars News Agency quoted the head of the Iranian Maritime Organization Murad Afifi as saying today.
"The authorities in Iran are following the final trial proceedings on the violation of the rules of maritime navigation by legal means and we will announce the judicial verdict when it is issued."
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced on July 19 the arrest of a British oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz and transported to the Iranian coasts for failure to observe international maritime laws, nearly two weeks after the government of Gibraltar announced that the British Navy detained an Iranian oil tanker off the rock site in the Strait of Gibraltar.
