The British Government has launched what is considered the greatest repatriation of citizens in peacetime to return to the country thousands of travelers who were stranded away from home after the collapse of tour operator Thomas Cook. The Secretary of Transportation, Grant Shapps, announced Monday that the Government and the Civil Aviation Authority of Great Britain have hired dozens of charter planes so that those affected can return to the UK without charge. According to the Government, all Thomas Cook customers abroad and who have reservations to return to the United Kingdom for the next two weeks will be returned to their destination as close as possible to their return date.
