In a joint statement, Germany, France and the UK have for the first time blamed Iran for attacking the main oil facilities in Saudi Arabia.
"It is clear to us that Iran bears the responsibility for this attack," it said in a joint statement issued by the government, the French and British governments, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
The allied with Iran Huthi rebels in civilized Yemen had claimed the attacks for themselves. Saudi Arabia said the attacks were carried out with Iranian weapons and, like the US government, is also responsible for the leadership in Tehran. Iran denies any involvement. Angela Merkel, Emmanuel Macron and Boris Johnson also called on Iran in a joint statement to agree to negotiate its nuclear program. It was time for Iran to accept lengthy talks about its nuclear program and security issues in the region.
US President Donald Trump, meanwhile, seems little interested in mediation attempts between his country and Iran. In response to Macron's bid to mediate between states, Trump said, "We do not need an intermediary, they know who to call."
