Nicolás Maduro arrived in Russia to meet with Vladimir Putin

(CNN) - The questioned president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, arrived in Russia on Tuesday for a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, which will take place on Wednesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported in a call with reporters this Tuesday.

In his Twitter account, Maduro said he came to Russia "to strengthen our historical and very positive relations of exchange and respect among our peoples."

Earlier, Peskov had announced Maduro's arrival in Russia and gave some details about the meeting with Putin.

“Maduro is coming for a work visit tomorrow. He will have a one-on-one meeting with President Putin, followed by a working breakfast with the delegations of Russia and Venezuela, ”said Peskov.

The Kremlin spokesman said that at the moment “there are no plans” to sign any new military agreement with Venezuela, “but issues will be discussed on the bilateral agenda and, of course, they will exchange views on regional issues, including direct interference in the issues of the region by third countries ”.

On Tuesday, the beleaguered president of Venezuela said that at the meeting he will review the bilateral relations and seek “new ways that will boost cooperation at all levels of the economy, social, cultural, and everything bilateral with Russia”.
