The Coastal Branch of the General Organization for Tobacco started receiving the tobacco crop from farmers in Tartous governorate from the Sereidin center in Banias countryside.
According to Ayman Karah Falah, head of agriculture department in the coastal zone branch of the Foundation, the expected production is about three million kilograms of the total cultivated area estimated at 22 thousand dunums.
Qara Falah explained that the receiving operations are in the presence of representatives of the General Organization for Tobacco and the branch of the Union of Peasants.Receiving operations will take place at the rate of 200 packages per day after the evaluation of the crop by specialized experts to be transferred to the warehouses of the General Organization, pointing to the classification of the crop to three types according to the degree of quality.
There are 12 centers in Tartous governorate to receive the tobacco crop and other centers will be opened in the coming period.
