The General Assembly of the United Nations kicked off in New York today with the participation of presidents, leaders and representatives of its 193 member states, including Syria.

In a speech during the opening, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stressed the need for a political solution to the crisis in Syria in accordance with UN resolution 2254, preserving the unity and territorial integrity of the country and exerting efforts to eradicate terrorism there.

Al-Sisi pointed out that the convening of the UN General Assembly comes at a time of increasing challenges facing the world, which necessitates an in-depth discussion on the development of work under the umbrella of the United Nations by affirming commitment to a fair and effective system committed to dialogue, cooperation and mutual respect.

On the Palestinian issue, Sisi stressed the necessity of resolving the Palestinian issue in accordance with the international legitimacy resolutions that lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

On the Yemeni issue, Sisi stressed that it is time for a decisive pause to end the Yemen crisis through a political solution and an end to foreign interference.

Al-Sisi pointed out that his country has a pioneering national experience in promoting the society in a comprehensive manner and confronting terrorism. He reviewed the steps taken by his country in confronting the phenomenon of terrorism, stressing the need to hold supporters of terrorism with money or weapons.

In turn, US President Donald Trump delivered a speech during the opening ceremony of many hostile attitudes towards many countries, most notably Iran, Cuba and Venezuela, claiming that Iran poses one of the greatest threats and that the nuclear deal with it "was horrific", vowing to tighten sanctions against Tehran.

Continuing his policy of financial blackmail, Trump reminded his allies that “we make it clear to our friends that they must shoulder the burden of defending their security,” stressing that he will not accept to sign any agreement with any country that is not in the interest of the United States, noting his country's readiness to sign a trade agreement with Britain after its departure. From the European Union.

In another context, Trump described his accusation of putting pressure on the Ukrainian president to open an investigation against the son of Democratic candidate Joe Biden is ridiculous.

For his part, Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres in the opening speech that external interference in the affairs of States is causing conflicts and that the violation of Security Council resolutions impede the achievement of stability in the world.

Guterres warned that a war could break out in the Gulf region and the world could not bear the repercussions, hoping to maintain the progress made in the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Guterres called for a redoubling of international efforts to tackle the climate change crisis, noting that yesterday's climate action summit highlighted some solutions that must be scaled up to radically reduce carbon emissions by 2050 and avoid rising temperatures.
