A delegation of Italian parliamentarians and politicians headed by Italian Senator and Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Division for the Eastern Mediterranean Paolo Romani visited Palmyra today.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the famous Bell Temple, the Columns Street, the historical theater, the Senate headquarters, the old Palmyra people and the National Museum of Palmyra.

Members of the delegation also watched a film about the life of the martyr of civilization, archaeologist Khaled Al-Assad, who was assassinated by the enemies of culture and humanity.

Head of the delegation, Paolo Romani, told reporters in Palmyra, “I was excited to come to Palmyra and see its ancient civilization, especially that this city's world heritage is of interest to all mankind. ISIS is the terrorist against humanity by destroying this human heritage. ”

Romani pointed out that there are monuments in Italy and Europe, but the presence of the ruins of the city of Palmyra in the middle of the desert, "something very special and beautiful," expressing great hope to cooperate to provide something useful for this marvelous city.

For his part, Italian MP Matthew Cremango expressed his deep dissatisfaction and sorrow over what the enemies of science and culture have done to destroy rare monuments in the world, pointing out that Italy is ready to help in the reconstruction of this ancient legacy and very important for the whole world.

`` My visit to Palmyra touched my heart and I took rich pictures of the monuments that could help in the reconstruction of this historic city, which is a world cultural heritage belonging to all humanity, and I did not imagine that there were European countries that funded terrorism to destroy this civilization. ''

Palmyra's residential and archaeological city is witnessing a steady return to the natural life and tourism movement in the light of the security and safety situation in the region after being cleared of terrorism and the efforts of the concerned authorities in Homs governorate to complete the provision of infrastructure and services and all the requirements for the restoration of this global tourist destination.
