(CNN) - Cities like New York, Shanghai and others could experience habitual floods, as sea levels rise faster than previously thought.
Glaciers and ice sheets from the Himalayas to Antarctica are melting rapidly.

These are just some of the impacts that greenhouse gas emissions have already caused on the oceans and frozen regions of the planet, according to a new report by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
More than 100 scientists from 36 countries worked on the report, entitled Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (Special report on the ocean and the cryosphere in a changing climate). It is the last of three IPCC special reports after the report last October, which warned that the world could only have until 2030 to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees, and the August report on Climate impact on planet earth.
