Former US ambassador to Riyadh Robert Jordan said that the danger of the Saudi regime has become greater than the threat posed by terrorists who export them to the world.

“The attack on Saudi oil facilities claimed by the United States, Britain, Germany and France that Iran carried out revealed the extent of the Middle East situation towards the war and the role played by the Saudi regime in the Middle East,” Jordan said in an article published on its website. "The situation has deteriorated, including its disastrous war against civilians in Yemen."

"Washington's rush to provide the Saudi regime with military support will give the wrong signal to this regime, whose behavior over the past years has damaged America's international position and reputation," he said, adding that Congress should suspend arms deals with the Saudi regime and other forms of support, not just help stop the horrific war in Yemen. It also “makes clear to this regime that it must avoid any move that could lead to a large regional fire”.

He pointed out that the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is behind two blatant mistakes made by the Saudi regime during the past years: the disastrous campaign led by Saudi Arabia on Yemen and the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, which proved in the minds of world public opinion.

Jordan pointed out that the Trump administration did not condemn the Yemen war and the killing of Khashoggi, but "stood with the reckless son of Salman and increased the sale of weapons that killed thousands of innocent civilians in Yemen." Can be sold. ”
