[UN 24 Reuters]-Iraqi Prime Minister Baracker and British Prime Minister Johnson met in New York on the 24th. Baracker explained that after the meeting, he had not reached an agreement to break the deadlock situation over the UK's withdrawal from the European Union.
Baracker told reporters, “It was a good meeting. I haven't agreed anything but I was able to discuss more concretely.”
Mr. Johnson commented that “I am cautiously optimistic” prior to the meeting.
In addition, the British official said after the meeting, “It was a detailed and good discussion. I think we will discuss further within a few days.”
Mr. Johnson also met with EU President Tusk the day before. According to a spokesman for the British government, EU action and flexibility are necessary to agree on a withdrawal negotiation.
On the other hand, after the meeting, President Tusk posted to Twitter: “There is no breakthrough. There is no break. And there is no grace.”
