From the 24th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has begun to publish radiation doses from three locations in Japan, such as Fukushima City, and Seoul on the website of the Japanese Embassy in Korea. It is updated every day except for the days when the embassy is closed. Because the concern about the radiation dose in Japan is increasing in Korea, the goal is to “explain with transparency” (person in charge) and to appeal to the Korean people about safety.
On the Korean and Japanese pages titled “Air dose rates in Japan and Korea”, the air dose rates at four locations in Fukushima City, Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, and Seoul are listed. Data are quoted from prefectures, capitals and the Korea Nuclear Safety Institute. On the 24th, Fukushima City was 0.132 microsieverts per hour, and Seoul was 0.119 microsieverts per hour.
In August, the Korean government strengthened the radiological inspection of imported foods because public concerns about the radioactive contamination of imported foods are growing. The homepage introduces that the radiation doses in three Japanese cities are "same as compared to major overseas cities including Seoul."
