[UN 24 Reuters]-Turkey's President Erdogan addressed at the UN General Assembly on the 24th, arguing that “the possession of nuclear weapons should be an option between all countries or a total ban”. “Inequality” between nuclear and non-nuclear states threatens global equilibrium.
Mr. Erdogan has expressed his view that Turkey needs to be protected from the threat of Israel, which is seen as a nuclear power.
Turkey signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in 1980 and the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) in 1996.
Erdogan sought cooperation from the international community to ensure safety in northern Idlib, Syria. He stressed that the creation of a “safe zone” in the area would save millions of lives.
