[Bangkok 24th Reuters]-Major retailers and convenience stores in Thailand have announced their policy not to provide plastic bags to customers next year in order to reduce plastic waste.
Walla Ut Natural Resources and Environment Minister revealed on Facebook on 23rd that a major contractor signed a government program and will stop providing disposable plastic bags from the beginning of 2020.
He said, “Department stores and 43 convenience stores all over Thailand participated in a program to cancel the provision of plastic bags.” Called the public to use alternatives such as cloth bags.
Participating in the program are CP All <CPALL.BK>, which turns over more than 10,000 Seven-Eleven stores in Thailand, and Central Group, the largest retailer.
