(CNN) - There are already 805 confirmed and probable cases of lung injury associated with the use of electronic cigarettes in 46 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) acronym in English).
Twelve deaths have been confirmed in 10 states: two in California, two in Kansas and one in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Oregon, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi.
On Thursday, the CDC updated its count of national cases, including deaths, which have been reported until Tuesday.
The CDC, the US Food and Drug Administration, state and local health departments and other clinical and public health organizations continue to investigate the outbreak of lung lesions in several states associated with the use of electronic cigarette products.
