New York-Sana

The foreign ministers of the Bolivarian alliance of the peoples of the American continent (Alba) expressed their rejection of the US aggressive policies against Venezuela and Cuba.

At a meeting on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, the Alliance condemned the recent hostile acts of the United States against Cuba and Venezuela, including the new unilateral coercive measures against Havana.

The coalition also condemned Washington's expulsion of two Cuban mission diplomats at the United Nations, calling for the promotion of a culture of peace in the region and the rejection of any initiative that contradicts it and jeopardizes peace.

Cuba is facing economic pressure and a blockade by Washington, while Venezuela is under US attempts to interfere in its internal affairs to destabilize by tightening economic and financial sanctions and support the right-wing forces in order to revive Washington's plans to dominate the country.

Founded in 2004 by the late Cuban presidents Fidel Castro and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, the ALBA includes Venezuela, Cuba, Antigua Barbudas, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Saint Lucia, Saint Vicente and Granadinas.
