China strongly condemned the US Congress resolution on Hong Kong under the guise of human rights, saying it was over

Beijing-Sana

China strongly condemned the US Congress resolution on Hong Kong under the guise of human rights, saying it is a serious violation of international laws and will adversely affect relations between Beijing and Washington.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee yesterday approved a bill called `` Human Rights and Democracy in Hong Kong for 2019. ''

"We strongly condemn and firmly oppose such blatant interference in China's internal affairs and the serious violation of international laws and basic rules governing international relations," the spokesman of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council was quoted as saying in a statement.

"Hong Kong belongs to China and its affairs are purely internal affairs of China and cannot tolerate the interference of any outside powers," he said. "This American behavior will seriously harm Sino-US relations and will not benefit the United States itself."

Any move that threatens China's national sovereignty and security and defies the authority of the central government and the Basic Law of Hong Kong is a challenge to the principle of "one country, two systems", which the Chinese people, including Hong Kong citizens, cannot allow.

The spokesman urged the US Congress and some US politicians to stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs and contribute to the development of relations between the two countries instead of undermining them.

On Monday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated his call for the United States not to interfere in the internal affairs of his country, stressing that if Washington wants to maintain a stable relationship with it, it is important to respect China's sovereignty, social order and development path.
