Ukraine affair: Whistleblower complaint against Trump is supposed to be released

2019-09-26T06:49:49.082Z

US President Trump threatens further anger: Now could also the complaint of an employee who brought the Ukraine affair rolling roles to be public. According to CNN, the confidentiality of the document has been lifted.

The criticism of an intelligence officer drew attention to the controversial telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Selenskyj. So far, the document was under lock and key. That might change soon. The contents of the complaint of the intelligence service employee must be published immediately, demanded the Minority Leader of the Senate Democrats, Chuck Schumer.

CNN, citing two unnamed sources, reports that the document's official secrecy has now been lifted. The same had previously stated the Republican Representative Chris Stewart. He sits on the secret service committee of the House of Representatives and tweeted: "I encourage all of you to read this," he wrote there. According to the CNN report, the document could be published today.

Democrats speak of disturbing details

Members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, who were given insight into the complaint, described the content as "disturbing." The complaint should include the phone call between Trump and Selenskyj, but also contain other incriminating elements. The whistleblower had learned the contents of the phone call and had appealed to an internal control agency for intelligence services.

According to CNN, the intelligence official also agreed to comment on the case, but under what circumstances this should happen is still unclear.

On Wednesday, a conversation protocol of the controversial telephone call had already been published, which does not verbally reproduce the July conversation (read the full protocol here).

From the perspective of many Democrats, it shows that Trump, with the help of a foreign government, wanted to damage his political rival Joe Biden - arguably the most promising Democratic presidential candidate for the 2020 election - and thus influence the election campaign.

The Democrats in the House of Representatives had on Tuesday preparations for impeachment Trump initiated. They accuse him of constitutional break.
