(CNN) - After a public divorce, Spider-Man's parents have repaired their differences.

The studios behind Spider-Man reconciled: Disney and Sony agreed to collaborate on a third movie of the teenage hero, after a very public separation just over a month ago that caused a fuss among the fans.

On Friday, the parties announced that Marvel would participate again in the production of the next sequel, and that Spider-Man would appear in another upcoming Marvel movie.

In a statement, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige said he is "delighted that Spidey's trip to the MCU continues."

Although Sony owns the film's rights to the character, the studios reached an agreement in 2015 to collaborate on films that feature it and allow Spider-Man to interact with other members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The result benefited both parties: Sony released the hit Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home , and the character appears in several Marvel movies, including the Avengers saga.

In August, however, the relationship broke up, with the announcement that Feige would no longer supervise the production of Spider-Man films. The dispute unleashed considerable anguish among fans, leading to a hashtag #SaveSpiderMan on Twitter.

Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man, posted a clip of The Wolf of Wall Street on Instagram to celebrate the news, which concludes with Leonardo DiCaprio's character shouting: "The show continues!"

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Spider-Man: Far From Home has raised more than $ 1.1 billion worldwide, becoming the third most lucrative film released in 2019, behind Avengers: Endgame and The Lion King . Only six films this year have crossed the threshold of one billion dollars, and the other five are from Disney.
