(CNN Spanish) - This Thursday there were moments of tension due to the detonation of an explosive in a sports field of the Salesiano school in Masaya, Nicaragua, 27 kilometers from Managua.

Hundreds of parents from that city came to the school to pick up their children.

The National Police, through a press release, reported that this September 26 at 8:40 in the morning, he learned that in the inner part of the soccer field, students found a plastic bag.

Disregarding its content, they threw it recklessly, which produced an explosion, without material or human damage.

According to the Police, a technical team made up of investigators and criminal experts came to the area and carried out the inspection on the football field, verifying that the explosion was caused by an artifact known as a contact bomb.

The Police also confirmed, with the use of canine technique, that no such artifacts existed in the place.

Parents consulted by local media expressed their amazement at the fact, since according to them the school and Plaza de Monimbó are permanently guarded by the police and armed civilians.

The Salesian school of Masaya houses more than a thousand primary and secondary students.

The authorities of the educational center informed that this Friday, September 27, classes will be suspended because teachers must attend a workshop called by the Ministry of Education.
