(CNN in Spanish) - Next Wednesday, October 2 - and until November 5, 2019 - the registration period begins to participate in the United States diversity visa lottery (see here the list of countries that can participate and what requirements you should have).

Here we tell you what are the Spanish-speaking countries for which more visas were issued and more immigration status adjustments were made in 2017.

This is the most updated information so far on the website of the Department of States. In addition, we are going to tell you how many visas were issued in 2016 and 2015, to give a little more perspective.

Notes: the figures for 2018 are of the applications accepted in the system, because the Department of States has not yet published the figures of the visas issued for that period. In addition, Ecuador's figures appear at zero for the years 2015, 2016 and 2017 because in those years it was not accepted in the visa lottery. The figures for 2018 are those preselected in that year, in which they could participate.
