Sweida-Sana
In cooperation with the local community, the International Junior Chamber, the Syrian Development Secretariat, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent branch and a number of NGOs, Al-Sweida City Council organized a voluntary clean-up campaign that included a number of neighborhoods in the city.
The cleanliness campaign included the center of Sweida city and the President's Corniche and the extension of the 7th of April road and the roundabout of the municipal stadium south towards Al-Jarra roundabout.
In a statement to SANA correspondent Khaled Taqi, the head of the International Junior Chamber in Sweida confirmed that this campaign comes as part of a comprehensive clean-up campaign in all governorates by the team to spread environmental awareness among the younger generation as the cleanliness of the city is a collective responsibility.
For his part, Mutasim al-Atrash, one of the volunteers of the Red Crescent branch, stressed the organization's keenness to participate in any activity reflected positively on society, especially hygiene campaigns to preserve the environment and protect it from pollution.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baraem Association for Child Welfare Firas Zahreddine said that this campaign aims to spread environmental awareness and motivate the civil society to participate in improving the aesthetic appearance of the city, while the President of the City Engineer Bashar Al-Ashqar that the campaign comes as a confirmation of participatory work among the community Al Ahli and the concerned parties with the aim of promoting a culture of hygiene and protecting the environment and helping administrative units to promote the reality of hygiene.
