Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Mogi met with Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wa in South Korea in New York on the afternoon of the 26th. The first Japan-Korea Foreign Ministers Meeting after South Korea decided to abolish the Japan-Korea Military Information Comprehensive Protection Agreement (GSOMIA) in August. They claimed that they followed the parallel lines and finally confirmed that they would continue to communicate with diplomatic authorities.

After the meeting, Mr. Motegi reassured the reporters that "I want Korea to rectify the violation of international law as soon as possible. The biggest problem is how to do so." Mr. Yasu told reporters, “I confirmed each other's position regarding the issue, but decided to continue communication.” In addition to the problem of the original collection work, the agenda seems to have been the strengthening of export restrictions to Korea and the decision to discard GSOMIA.
