Participants at the Fifth International Forum of Journalists of Islamic Countries stressed that the politicized actions of the West lead to escalating tensions and crises around the world, calling for confronting media misinformation and fake news.
Participants stressed in the final statement of the forum held in the Russian city of Petersburg with the participation of a number of countries, including Syria, the need for coordination between journalists from Islamic countries and Russia in order to counter the falsification of news and misleading media.
In this context, a number of participants in the forum affirmed their support for Syria in the face of the fierce media war directed against it, pointing out that Syria is fighting terrorism supported by regional and international countries aimed at prolonging the terrorist war on Syria under false pretenses.
The participants also pointed out that the extent of falsification and lying of the Western and Arab media about what is happening in Syria is no secret to anyone who warned against the spread of media misinformation and falsification of news on a large scale in recent years, calling at the same time to unite efforts to address the false media and adopt a comprehensive program of detection About extremist ideas in the media space.
The fifth International Forum for Journalists of Islamic Countries was opened on 26 September with the participation of a number of countries, including Syria represented by the Assistant Minister of Information Ahmed Dawa, in addition to international experts in the field of media and Russian and foreign official figures to discuss the impact of media in public opinion and its reactions to international events and enhance cooperation Among the countries in this area also included specialized sessions in the areas of psychological warfare and strategy reactions to fake news and freedom of the press.
