Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Walid al-Moallem held a series of meetings with a number of his foreign counterparts yesterday on the sidelines of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Minister Moallem Subramaniam Jaishankar met with Indian Foreign Minister and discussed with him ways to strengthen the historical relations between the two friendly countries and the ongoing preparations for the next meeting of the Syrian-Indian Joint Committee in Damascus and the resulting agreements and memorandums of understanding that will contribute to the development of economic relations between the two sides and facilitate the participation of Indian companies in the reconstruction process In syria.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants reviewed the latest developments in Syria and thanked India for its support to Syria during the crisis period, pointing out that all possibilities are available to develop relations between the two friendly countries.

For his part, the Indian Foreign Minister pointed to the historical and deep-rooted relations between the two countries and the importance of their bilateral cooperation.

The Foreign Minister discussed with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Maki various aspects of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, where both sides praised the continuous and accelerated development of these relations and stressed the importance of building on the results of the recent meeting of the Syrian-Belarusian Joint Committee held recently in Damascus, as well as the results of Minister Moallem's recent visit to Minsk. To further strengthen these relations in various fields.

The two sides also discussed developments in Syria.

Al-Moallem expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Republic of Belarus for its support to Syria during the past years and its support for just Syrian issues in international forums, expressing Syria's great appreciation for the initiative of the Belarusian President and for the efforts exerted by the Belarusian side in hosting Syrian children of martyrs children in the summer camps in Syria. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants met with his Armenian counterpart Zohrab Manatsakanyan and briefed him on the latest political and field developments in Syria, affirming Syria's determination to liberate all its territories from the abomination of terrorism while working on the political track through the constitutional discussion committee and the economic track through the reconstruction process. The Foreign and Expatriates Minister met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali Al-Hakim and discussed with him ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly and neighboring countries and the importance of permanent coordination between them to face common challenges, especially fighting terrorism and foreign interference in their internal affairs.

Minister al-Moallem reviewed the latest political and field developments in Syria, reiterating Syria's determination to fight terrorism and liberate all Syrian territory from it, from foreign occupation and illegal foreign military presence, which also affects brotherly Iraq, confirming that the two countries are in one trench, stressing the importance of upgrading relations between the two countries. Al-Moallem reiterated the call to overcome all obstacles to the re-opening of border crossings between the two countries because of the importance and positive effects on the situation in Syria and Iraq as well as in the region.

The Iraqi minister stressed the importance of continuous coordination and cooperation between the two countries in various issues, including the issue of the return of displaced Syrians to their homeland, as well as Arab-Arab relations, reiterating Iraq's position in support of Syria in the war on terrorism faced by the two countries.

Al-Moallem met with his Sudanese counterpart Asmaa Mohammed Abdullah and listened to a detailed presentation on the latest political developments in Sudan and the steps being taken to achieve comprehensive peace in all Sudanese territories in the coming stage.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants expressed Syria's happiness for the gradual recovery of the brotherly Sudan and its status on the Arab and regional arenas.He pointed out that the relations between Syria and Sudan are rooted in various fields and that Syria wishes to continue to strengthen these relations for the benefit of both countries and peoples.

For her part, the Sudanese Foreign Minister expressed her country's aspiration to develop relations with Syria and its desire to continue the existing cooperation between the two countries in all fields, affirming Sudan's total rejection of any harm to Syria and its rejection of all unilateral actions taken by some parties that violate Syrian sovereignty and stressing the need for Fully respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Syria.

The meetings were attended by Deputy Foreign Minister and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Syrian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Bashar Al-Jaafari and Director of the Private Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Mohammad Al-Amrani.
