When asked by the host María Celeste Arrarás about the last words of the 'Prince of the song', Sosa replied: “His last words were, he told me, to promise him that I was going to do my career, to promise him that I was going to sing".

José José, famous for many reasons

José José, was born on February 17, 1948, surrounded by artists: his father was an opera tenor and his mother, a concert pianist, two key pieces in the formation of the interpreter, who from a very young age combined the studio with the guitar, Children's songs, the school choir and music festivals.

And although his father demanded that only classical music be heard at home, José José was, unwittingly, defining a style, which came to influence numerous artists in the world.

In 1965 his first single album would arrive, although in his fifty years of musical career he never lacked prizes or applause from an audience that surrendered at his feet and fell in love with his songs with that unquestionable romantic quality.

From Los Angeles, Miami, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina or wherever it has gone, a voice was heard that captivated millions to become an idol.

His talent also led him to dabble in television and in the cinema, where he starred in films such as Gavilan or dove, and Forgive me everything.

He sold more than 120 million records which made him one of the most successful Latin American singers in history.

Tears, When you go with me, I doubt it, Love ends, I have given up on you, I want to lose myself with you, are some songs that came to occupy the first place of popularity, and that placed it in the banner of Latin American romanticism.

  • José José: reactions to the death of the 'Prince of the Song'

At the end of March 2017 the famous singer appeared in a video that circulated on social networks, in which he communicated to his fans, that a small pancreas tumor had been detected, so he would have to undergo medical treatment.

But in the memory will remain his voice, his style, his innumerable gold and platinum records that are part of the story of the so-called 'Prince of the song', which will forever occupy a place of honor among those who will never, never stop listening to their songs. Rest in peace, José José.
