(CNN) - A strange weather hit Davis, California, over the weekend. The area experienced a tornado, hail and low temperatures in the morning.

The tornado caused some excitement, but apparently did not cause damage.

Shasta Fields told CNN that she and her boyfriend Tom Nolan approached the tornado. In a video posted on Twitter, Nolan, an amateur storm chaser, can be heard shouting: "Look at yourself, you are beautiful," while the tornado begins to form.

The Sacramento National Meteorological Service (NWS) issued a tornado warning at 6:39 p.m. Pacific Time this Saturday for a storm north of Davis, and advised people to take refuge. An atmospheric student at the University of California at Davis reported seeing the tornado land at 6:41 pm east of Highway 101A and Highway 27, the NWS said, adding that no damage was reported.

Robert Shackelford, producer of CNN Weather, said the tornado was much weaker than the Midwest tornadoes normally are.

"California sees around 10 tornadoes a year, so this is quite rare in the area," he said. "They are more likely to see tornadoes in winter and spring, but it is not uncommon to see tornadoes in autumn."

Shortly before the tornado, hail fell on the Davis area. Again, no damage was reported immediately.

Brennan Prill tweeted: “God save you, Batman! It seemed that it was snowing in Davis, California, after the storm warned by the tornado left hail on State Highway 113. #CAwx ”

Then, on Sunday morning, a record low temperature was recorded in nearby Sacramento, the National Weather Service said.

The temperature at Sacramento Executive Airport dropped to 45 ° F (7.2 ° C). The previous minimum for September 29 was 46 ° F (7.6 ° C), established in 1986.

Amanda Jackson of CNN contributed to this report.
