Homs-Sana
The amount of potato seed underwritten by farmers in Homs for the current season to date is about one thousand two hundred and thirty tons of imported seeds.
Engineer Ahmed Yusuf Ahmed, director of the seed multiplication branch in Homs, pointed out that the quality of imported seed potatoes and the appropriate prices offered by the branch compared to the prices of the private sector led farmers to subscribe to an increase of more than a thousand tons from last year, when it was two hundred and twenty-five tons.
As for wheat and barley seeds, Ahmed explained that the branch is following the screening and sterilization operations to distribute them to farmers according to the agricultural plan set by the Ministry of Agriculture for the coming agricultural season. He pointed out that the quantities sifted to date amounted to 500 tons of barley seed and two thousand tons of wheat seed.
Sifted seeds have also been shipped to agricultural banks in the governorate, where the quantities shipped to Tal Kalakh Bank are 200 tons, while the branch will start shipping to Qusair Bank by the beginning of next October.
