Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Gholamhossein Dehghani reiterated the need for the US and foreign occupation forces to withdraw illegally from Syrian territory.
Dehghani made the remarks during a speech at a UN Security Council meeting on Syria today.
Dehghani considered that the agreement on forming a committee to discuss the constitution is a positive step to end the crisis in Syria through a political process led by the Syrians themselves without outside interference and without imposing timetables on its work in which the United Nations plays the facilitator role to facilitate reaching a political solution. Russia and Iran in the completion of the formation of the committee.
Dehghani stressed the continued support of Iran to the Syrian people and the work of the constitutional discussion committee as confirmed during the meeting of foreign ministers of the guarantors of the Astana process on the 24th of this month in New York.
Dehghani said: "While all necessary assistance should be provided in the context of supporting the work of the Constitutional Discussion Committee, any form of external pressure or artificial deadlines should be prohibited by anyone, even the United Nations."
