(CNN) - We knew it was too good to be true.
The weekend on the Internet was full of versions that Adele and Beyoncé had apparently collaborated on a song with Coldplay leader Chris Martin.
It all started when One Republic leader Ryan Tedder told Z100 New York radio station that was going to happen on the band's new album.

“We have a song with Beyoncé and Adele with a piano solo by Chris Martin,” said Tedder.
But a Tedder representative told CNN on Monday that he was just kidding.
A duet from Adele and Bey would not only have been great given his star power, but we really wanted him for Adele.
She has been a member of Bey's fans for years, and she felt the same as all of us when Beyoncé showed up at Coachella.
And who can forget that Adele honored her that in her 2017 Grammy speech, after she won the album of the year by 25 ? Adele said she could not possibly accept the award, to which Beyoncé was also nominated.
“I am very honest and very grateful. But the artist of my life is Beyoncé, ”said Adele through tears. “And that album for me, the Lemonade album, is monumental. Beyoncé is so monumental. ”
For the record, Tedder worked on album 25 and shared that award. He also co-wrote some songs of Beyoncé, including Halo .
CNN also contacted representatives of the artists to comment.
