The Korean National Assembly passed a resolution on the 30th of next year's Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, in favor of a resolution calling for the prohibition of bringing the Asahi Sun flag to the competition venue. It also includes provisions that require the Korean government to make diplomatic efforts to prevent the use of the Asahi flag in all official international events.
The resolution places the Asahi flag as "a symbol of Japan's empire and militarism at the time of World War II", and using it as a support means at the competition venue is an act that stimulates negative memory of the invading country "Criticism." It calls on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics Organizing Committee to ban the Asahi flag and support goods of the same design from the stadium.
Asahi-Nippon Flag is used by the JMSDF as an external indicator of the Self-Defense Force, and if the Korean government starts to eliminate it at an international event in accordance with the resolution, new friction may arise. (Seoul = Takeda)
