British Prime Minister Boris Johnson wants to present his new Brexit plan within 24 hours. This was reported by the Telegraph on Monday night. Previously, the news agency Reuters had already reported that Johnson will give the EU on Wednesday or Thursday detailed suggestions on how Brexit could succeed in his view. It is also a solution to the problem of the border between Northern Ireland and EU member Ireland. The agency relies on government circles.

The Irish state broadcaster RTE reported that the plans envisage "customs clearance centers" on both sides of the Irish border. This should obviously avoid checks on the border itself. In addition, an all-Ireland "economic zone" is to be created in which, for example, food can be transported without taxes between the countries.

Johnson has promised to lead the UK out of the EU with or without an agreement on October 31st. One hurdle, however, is a law passed by parliament: it stipulates that the government must request a postponement of the withdrawal date if no agreement with the EU has been reached by mid-October.
