[29th Reuters]-US President Trump's legal counsel, Jay Sekrow, said there are no plans to strengthen the lawyer team in preparation for a House impeachment investigation.
Seklow, who played a central role in responding to the alleged intervention of the US presidential election in Russia, said, “I am going to deal with the current team,” explained that this is a political issue rather than a legal issue.
The impeachment investigation will be handled mainly by President Legal Counsel Pat Sipolon, while Sekrow and lawyer William Consovoy will be supported by external legal experts.
Rudy Giuliani, who was involved in the allegations of Ukraine that started the impeachment investigation, will also join.
Mr. Sekrow recognized that the response to the impeachment investigation is likely to take the same approach as when he dealt with the alleged investigation of Russia by the Moll special prosecutor.
The White House has not responded to requests for comment on the legal team.
A senior Trump administration official told Reuters that despite the impeachment investigation being a political issue, there were concerns within the administration that the White House's response was limited to legal professionals.
