the handling of German security services with the murders of the "National Socialist Underground" (NSU) was a shame , he is one of the most disturbing chapters of German post-war history. The fact that investigative authorities were visually ill in the right eye is shocking enough. The fact that, despite contrary evidence, they long believed that victims of immigrant background could only be murdered by immigrants, even points to chronic racism. At least, however, on a very simple world view, according to which the murderer is most likely the migrant.

Obviously, many employees in the authorities did not want to accept how sick it can be in Berne. If they were a little familiar with German history, they would have known. Even in the case of the murdered district president Walter Lübcke, the investigators may not consider for a long time that the act was committed by a German right-wing extremist.

In Erfurt today the final report of the NSU investigation committee with the harmless sounding title "right terrorism and authorities acting" is presented. "Authority failure" would have rather met.

The foiled "Revolution Chemnitz"

Today begins the trial of eight members of the extreme right-wing terrorist group "Revolution Chemnitz" , who wanted to emulate the NSU obvious. The men between the ages of 21 and 31 years wanted to overcome the rule of law with violent and armed attacks. They are accused of forming a right-wing terrorist group.

Their leader Christian K. posted in a chat regarding the federal government: "You want war, you get war." And he threatened that the NSU would "act like the kindergarten preschool group !!!" The civil war of the union should be conducted against "Linksparasiten, Merkel zombi, media dictatorship and their slaves".

Unlike the NSU, the investigators seem to have been quite awake in the case of "Revolution Chemnitz". That's exactly what the spirit of all German security agencies should be. They are not just guilty of the victims. They also have a special responsibility against the background of German history.

New option for Austria

Matthias Schrader / DPA

For many decades, the election result in Austria was more or less the same. Either the Social Democrats were in the lead. Or the ÖVP. They then either had the opportunity to form a grand coalition with the other people's party. Or they dared, like the ÖVP, to make the brown messed-up children of the FPÖ a government partner. Both were not really healthy.

Alliances with the FPÖ were a pact with the dubious. Carefully expressed. Most recently, Heinz-Christian Strache revealed the corrupt, democratizing face of his party in an Ibizan finca. Big coalitions, on the other hand, had something eternal, static, and boring; they only made the FPÖ big.

After yesterday's Nationalrat election, there is finally a way out of the great political dilemma of Austria . At least in theory. The ÖVP by ex-chancellor Sebastian Kurz increased to more than 38 percent of the vote. While the Social Democrats slumped to 21.5 percent, the FPÖ lost almost nine percentage points and landed just over 17 percent. Since the Greens have been able to increase to over 12 percent, is now the first time a new coalition government possible: an alliance of ÖVP and Greens. This may be foreign to the participants for cultural reasons. Given the recent history of Austria but all alternatives would be pretty crazy.

Chingderassabum in Beijing

NOEL CELIS / AFP

There will be a decent Tschingderassabum in the Chinese capital Beijing today . The People's Republic celebrates the 70th anniversary of its founding with a massive military parade. Similar numbers of Chinese tanks were last seen on the streets in June 1989 - during the very bloody suppression of freedom protests in Tiananmen Square. Without the tanks of yesteryear, the tanks of today might not open at all.

Since the dark days of '89, the Chinese capitalist dictatorship has undoubtedly generated a lot of wealth. But at the same time she became even more repressive. While today's Beijing rattles, Hong Kong Freedom Friends hope to finally get rid of their jubilees. And that the tanks will not roll up soon.

Loser of the weekend ...

... is the sport. Whoever contributed to the World Athletics Championships in Qatar should be ashamed. And who was involved in that, that the World Cup in three years to take place there, too. The current competitions of the athletes show what happens to the sport when its officials are led by greed and corruption. This World Cup is a joke, it's a scandal.

Shielded from the climatic reality, the competitions have to take place in the stadium cooled to 26 degrees Celsius. With this attitude, it is only a matter of time until the Ski World Cup in Qatar takes place. Incidentally, women's marathons could not be air-conditioned because there is no 42-kilometer-long hall yet. He therefore had to start at midnight, at a comparatively cool 35 degrees. Hardly anyone wants to watch the athletes in Qatar.

So why this madness? The Emirate of Qatar wants to buy with the help of such events political acceptance for its dictatorship. That is understandable. It is incomprehensible that the major athletics or football associations participate. They betray their athletes and all sports fans worldwide.
