Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babich called on the European Union to reach out to the Syrian state to resolve the crisis in Syria rather than impose unilateral coercive measures against it.
Babich stressed in a statement on the talks he held in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings, including his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Walid Muallem published on the Prime Minister's website on the importance of listening to all parties pointing out that the European Union imposed unilateral measures on Syria at the time it is supposed to communicate with it.
He said that the Czech Republic is the only country among the EU countries that have kept its embassy in Damascus.
During his meeting with Al-Moallem in New York, Babich reiterated his country's position to find a political solution that would restore security and stability to Syria and to preserve its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, pointing out that the Czech Republic wants Europe to be more involved in solving the situation in Syria and the region and to play a positive role in this regard. .
