Heinz-Christian Strache said at a press conference that he was no longer seeking political functions. The ex-FPÖ leader and former Austrian vice-chancellor had stumbled over the Ibiza affair in May and then resigned from all his posts.
After a week before the Nationalrat election in Austria, new allegations of embezzlement against him had become known, increased the displeasure against him in the party. Now he lets his membership rest. He prefers a suspension by the FPÖ committees.
