Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that NATO's response to Russia's proposal to stop the deployment of medium and short-range missiles in Europe and other regions is "disappointing."
"This proposal was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 2, 2019, but the response of NATO and its member states is disappointing," Ryabkov told reporters on Tuesday.
He stressed that "Moscow will continue to work on the implementation of Putin's proposal to impose a moratorium on the deployment of medium and short-range missiles, otherwise the security situation will decline sharply in Europe and possibly elsewhere as well."
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said last month that Putin's proposal had been published among "major countries in Europe, Asia and international organizations."
