Alleged spy in Iran sentenced to death

A person in Iran has been sentenced to death for espionage, according to reports. In addition, a court has made decisions on several long prison sentences.



An Iranian Revolutionary Court has sentenced a person to death for espionage for the United States. The person has appealed, a final decision will be made in the appeals court, said Justice spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili. He did not name further details.

In addition, sentences of ten-year imprisonment for two Iranian men who are said to have spied for the US, have been confirmed by the Court of Appeal. Another man was also sentenced to ten years in prison. He is said to have spied for Britain.
