(CNN) - The highly anticipated new mobile game "Call of Duty" was released early this Tuesday and is already one of the best new applications.

"Call of Duty: Mobile" is a free download game that is available for iOS and Android devices. The first person shooter is loaded with in-app purchases ranging from $ 1.49 to $ 159.99.
The game is already the second highest-grossing application in the Apple App Store in the US. UU., According to the Sensor Tower analysis service. It is not yet classified in the Google Play store.
"Call of Duty: Mobile" is not the franchise's first mobile game, but "it brings together experiences from the Modern Warfare and Black Ops game series" for the first time, according to Activision. There is also a new “Battle Royale” mode that allows players to fight up to 100 people at once.

The game was released worldwide on Tuesday, with some exceptions, including China. "Call of Duty: Mobile" was developed by Chinese tech giant Tencent along with Timi Studio, which created the popular game "Arena of Valor."
Video game launches in China face tough scrutiny because regulators previously said they wanted to control the amount of new games online and limit play time for minors. In May, Tencent (TCEHY) was forced to disconnect PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds due to government restrictions on the games.
"Call of Duty" is one of the most profitable Activision Blizzard games. The launch could help drive the company in trouble, which also features "Candy Crush" and "World of Warcraft."

In the last quarter of the company's earnings, Activision posted sales of $ 1.4 billion compared to $ 1.6 billion a year ago. Earlier this year, Activision said it laid off 8% of its workforce. The company is struggling to keep up with free multiplayer games, such as Fortnite.
