In preparation for the winter and in order to avoid floods and avoid any damage that may be caused by heavy rains Damascus province continues to work on the removal of rain and large rain fisheries and the implementation of new fisheries and the replacement of old sewage networks.

The director of services departments in the province of Damascus, Eng. Louay Alloush, told SANA that the Directorate's workshops follow up the work of removing rain, wiring and maintenance in the main and sub-streets of the city, according to a weekly follow-up plan before the rainy season.

Alloush pointed to the joint efforts carried out by the Directorate in cooperation with the General Company for Sanitation in Damascus in the work of cleaning, maintenance and implementation of fisheries, pointing out that large rain fisheries were cleaned to reduce the flow of floods in the event of tunnels and low-lying areas.

In turn, the deputy director of the sewerage company in Damascus, Eng. Khalil Mustafa, explained that the company's workshops removed the rainwater in the tunnels of Al-Thawra, Faiha, Umayyads, 17th of April Street, Abbasids, Carlton, Eisheh and Kafarsouseh. The Brigadier, Al-Kikiya and Shamdeen Square, in addition to rain-fed fisheries in the area of ​​the destroyed project and the roundabout of the church.

According to Mustapha, the company implemented a set of new rain traps, including three traps in Ramb descending from the square of Dhi Qar roundabout Shami hospital towards Rabwah across the street to prevent flooding rain water length of five meters and a width of 80 cm.

Mustafa pointed out that the company's workshops are periodically since the beginning of last September to replace the old sewer lines within the service plan for the city of Damascus, especially in Rukn al-Din, Dumr, Shaghour, Barzeh and Mezzeh.

Regarding the mechanism of rainwater drainage, Mustafa explained that the rain traps with internal dimensions of 60 cm in length and 75 widths attract all rain and contain a sedimentation basin with a depth of 50 cm collected by gravel and silt, which drift with rainwater where rain water is only drawn to rivers and sedimentation basins are periodically cleaned.
