The People's Assembly discussed today at its ninth session of the 11th ordinary session of the second legislative role, headed by Speaker Hamouda Sabbagh, the performance and work of the ministry of oil and mineral resources.
The interventions of a number of members of the Council focused on the need to provide justice in the distribution of heating oil and domestic gas, and the adoption of mechanisms that take into account the geographical level and density of population, especially in areas with a cooler nature and reduce the distribution of the gas cylinder specified by 23 days and increase the amount of fuel allocated to freight cars, which is set at 600 liters.
A number of members called for tightening control over gas stations, monitoring the weight of gas cylinders, accounting for manipulators and encouraging the use of alternative energies, calling for more effective solutions to overcome the economic terrorism practiced by the West against Syria.
Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Ali Ghanem gave a brief presentation on the work of the ministry and its efforts to secure oil derivatives despite the siege and unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.
Ghanem pointed out that the losses of the oil sector to date amounted to eighty-one billion dollars as direct and indirect losses with the continued systematic targeting of the oil sector, noting that thanks to the cadres of the ministry is provided daily about 17.8 million cubic meters of gas and 24500 barrels of oil and one million tons of phosphate.
Ghanem explained that Syria needs 136 thousand barrels of oil per day estimated daily bill of 8.8 million dollars, pointing out that the deficit in quantities comes as a result of the blockade, which led to bottlenecks last year, where many measures were taken to address them.
Ghanem pointed out that 44 gas wells were introduced between the drilling and repair service, which led to a positive reflection of an increase in the production of 7.9 million cubic meters from the previous and is expected to introduce four new wells until the end of the year, noting that for production requirements, the ministry adopted the principle of self-reliance and benefit One of the equipment in the sites liberated by the Syrian Arab Army from terrorism, stressing that there are visions and prospects for future exploration in cooperation with friendly countries.
The Minister of Oil said that the quantities of fuel will be increased during the winter and that the stability of gas and fuel production led to the stabilization of the electrical reality, pointing out that 41 government fuel stations have been introduced and the total number of stations before the crisis 2248 of which 957 are currently operating.
Ghanem said that about three million family smart cards and about one million and one hundred and fifty-seven smart cards have been granted to the mechanisms, where there are currently one hundred and forty-six centers for the issuance of the smart card has been allocated three million liters of gasoline for heating daily in the provinces.
In response to the members' interventions, Ghanem pointed to the role of the smart card in reducing bottlenecks and distributing fuel, where he distributes 130,000 gas cylinders per day, revealing that through the supply plan the situation will be “good” during the next phase of the distribution process and the availability of gas material according to winter needs.
Ghanem pointed out that another gas cylinder is currently being considered outside the subsidy, in addition to the domestic gas cylinder set to 23 days in order to meet the needs of citizens of gas, adding that the increase in allocations is related to supplies and the availability of the material in stock and we have started to increase the quantity of fuel respectively with the strengthening of supplies and in the coming days will be offered quantities The largest of all materials.
Ghanem explained that the production of gasoline in the refinery is in accordance with the standard specifications, but the existence of a defect in some other joints must stand at it and hold accountable everyone who violates in this sector at all stages, noting that the ministry is committed to meet the allocations of each sector according to the plan received, while the distribution is the responsibility of the committees Governorates.
Ghanem confirmed that work is underway to secure a stopper for the gas cylinder within a foreign standard that is not tampered with or manipulated, indicating that the work is based on the development of oil legislation, which is the demand of the oil sector.
