Tunisia-Sana
The Independent High Electoral Commission of Tunisia announced today that the date of holding the second presidential session will be on October 13, with the election campaign starting on Thursday.
"Sunday (October 13th) will be the date of the second presidential session and the campaign will start on Thursday," the head of the commission, Nabil Pfon, told a news conference.
Independent candidates, constitutional law professor Qais Saeed and businessman Nabil Karoui, arrested on charges of money laundering and tax evasion, will compete in the second round.
The Tunisian Court of Appeal yesterday rejected the request for the release of Karoui, who came second in the first presidential session with 15.6 percent of the vote, while Said topped the results of the first session and won 18.4 percent of the vote.
